Reinvesting in Us: Round 2 of the Community Reinvestment Grant is Coming

Community & Funding

When we fought for legalization, we didn't just fight for the right to sell; we fought for the right to rebuild. The promise of the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act (MRTA) was that tax revenue would flow back into the communities most harmed by the War on Drugs. In early 2026, we are about to see the next wave of that promise.

Round 2 Opening Soon
The OCM has signaled that Round 2 of the Community Reinvestment Program is anticipated to open in early 2026.
This fund is designed to support non-profits and community organizations—not just cannabis businesses—that service our youth (ages 0-24). The focus areas for this funding include:
* Mental health services
* Workforce development
* Housing support
* Harm reduction
Why This Matters for "Cannabis in Black"
For too long, "cannabis money" left our neighborhoods. Now, 40% of the tax revenue from every pre-roll and edible sold is earmarked for this fund.
If you know a local non-profit doing the work in Brooklyn, the Bronx, or Queens, tell them to get ready. They need to be 501(c)(3) certified and have a minimum operating expenditure of $50,000. This is our money returning to our block. Let’s make sure black-led non-profits are the ones applying for and receiving these grants to heal our own communities.
